Therachat is all about creating, assigning and sending digital homework assignments to your clients. But when we see assignments that don’t resonate much with therapists and clients, don’t get completed much, we declutter things by removing them from the platform. What if your clients actually did their homework? Therachat wants to empower you with all the tools to have clients actually do their homework.
We are very excited to announce that we are releasing a new version of Therachat at the end of October. This release is all about giving you more power and control over activities to use with clients. Whether that’s to schedule, assign or create them.
Let’s have a look at some of the new features:
Control & Schedule All Activities (inc. journaling & emotion tracking)
Emotion tracking? Open journaling? Thought reframing? You now have full control over all activities your client experiences in the mobile app.
Advanced Scheduling Options
Would you like to schedule certain activities recurrently? With our advanced scheduling options, you can schedule activities ahead, drastically reducing the amount of work you need to do.
Tracking, Meditation, Feedback on therapy sessions and many more new activities
We added a range of tracking, meditation, thought reframing, journaling, coping… activities that you can easily assign to your clients.
Compliance results & helpfulness scores
Get a view of how your clients are getting along with their homework and whether they find it helpful.
What about your clients?
All your scheduled activities will pop up in their mobile app on the time you specified. Your clients are able to leave feedback on those activities.
We’re very excited about this big release that will make your work easier and will stimulate your clients to really put in the work outside of sessions. We’d love to hear your feedback!
On our last release we’ve improved emotion tracking for clients.
In this release we’re bringing the results to your dashboard. Get a better view on how your client is progressing by seeing the changes in their emotions.
We’ve also made it easy for you to test out the Therachat experience in the client app and link that back to the dashboard on the web.
Improved emotion tracking data
Get more insight in how your client is doing by checking their progress over time on your therapist dashboard. See how intense they felt emotions and use that data as a starting point of check-ins in- or outside of session.
Clients can easily invite you to the platform to share data
If your client would like to share their Therachat data with you, they can now easily invite you to Therachat, even if you’re not using it yet. You will get an email saying that a client would like to use Therachat with you. When you sign-up, you’ll automatically be linked to your client and start seeing their data on your Therachat dashboard.
Test out the client experience
Download the client app, test it out and see your own data popping up on the web dashboard by logging in. This allows you to fully grasp the experience your clients will have before inviting them.

Enhanced Emotion Tracking
With the enhanced emotion tracking we intended to
- Make it easier to track emotions following the Wheel of Emotions.
- Help people articulate which emotions they are feeling & enhance their emotional literacy.
- Give a better view on the progress that is made.
- Help people be more aware of the emotions they are feeling.
Emotion Tracking In Depth
We have split up emotion tracking in 3 different steps.
- Step One: Defining Primary Emotions
The first step is to define primary emotions. Often times it’s easier for people to identify the basic emotions they are feeling.
- Step Two: Rating Intensity
By rating the intensity of the primary emotions we will be able to visually show progress over time and a reduction of negative emotions.
- Step Three: Diving Into Secondary Emotions
Lastly we ask users to define secondary emotions. By seeing a list of deeper emotions, users become more aware of which emotion they are feeling.
Emotion Tracking Charts For Therapists
The emotions clients track on our mobile app translates into easily readable charts where therapists can follow progress of the emotions of their clients are experiencing in between therapy sessions.

The last month, we’ve been working on some very exciting new features. Please follow along on some of the things we’ve been working on:
Direct messaging in a HIPAA compliant way
Having the ability to send messages to your clients is a vital way of connecting & engaging with your clients in between sessions. However, SMS, email and phone calls are not HIPAA compliant. We wanted to offer a secure environment for therapists & their clients to communicate and send messages without compromising the clients’ data security & privacy. That’s why we build Direct Messaging into Therachat. Since our platform is completely HIPAA compliant, direct messaging through Therachat is also HIPAA compliant.
Send activities to clients
Do your clients forget which activities you suggested them to do during the week? Do your clients bring in paper work you have to go through in a session? These are all common pains in therapy.
With Therachat you can now send your clients activities to do in between sessions. Through the mobile app, your clients will be reminded to do the activities you scheduled for them & you will see the results in your dashboard. Instantaneous.
Update your profile
Did you forget to set a password? Or would you rather reset your password? Do you want to use your name when inviting a client to use Therachat? On your profile page you can now change your settings and add more info.
Inviting clients was never easier
Inviting clients to use Therachat is now easier than ever. You can add your name to the invitation and add a custom message to send to your clients.
For your clients in the mobile app
Bug fixing & 24h support
We improved a lot in the mobile app so that your clients have a better experience when using Therachat. We continuously strive to help when things go wrong, that’s why we have a 24/7 customer support team you can reach through the mobile app, the web dashboard or through firstname.lastname@example.org
Bookmarking journal entries
Do your clients forget to bring up important issues in a sessions? With our bookmarking system your clients can now save important journal entries they want to talk about in a session and easily access them from the app.
Better onboarding & being connected to you
It took some steps for your clients to be connected to you. Not any longer! Your clients can now identify that they have a therapist and connect to you.

Client Mobile App Improvements
Journaling without prompts
We’ve learned that some of our mobile app users prefer a more relaxed journaling format, one without prompts or follow-up questions. Voila! We created it.
Chatbot intelligence and feedback
The AI-driven chabot, which powers guided journaling, learns more with time and use. Now, mobile users can quickly let us know when a chatbot’s response misses the mark. With this in-app feedback we will improve guided journaling faster and eventually eliminate faulty responses.
Connecting to therapist account
There’s been some confusion around connecting therapist web accounts to client mobile accounts. Now therapists and clients can see when they are connected. No more confusion!
Therapist Web App Improvements
Mood tracking graph
Now, therapists can see the data from their clients’ mood tracker in their dashboard.
Therapists no longer need to wonder whether or not a client accepted an invitation and started using the app. They can check their dashboard and, if needed, resend the invitation.
Better customer support
We want to build a product you love, so your opinion matters. That’s why we’ve added anew, easy ways for you to give us your feedback and get in touch with us.
Easy mobile app access for therapists
If a therapist wants to test out the client mobile app, now they don’t have to create a new account. They can just download the app (iOS or Android) and log in with their existing username and password. No more need to create a new account!
A few more updates are in the works:
- Soon, clients will be able to bookmark the journal entries they want to discuss during a session. They will get reminders about these bookmarks before the session.
- More activities for therapists to schedule for their clients.
- Therapists will be able to receive notifications when their clients engage with Therachat.
